Nicky Ennis speaks at the Edward A. Bouchet spring symposium
Dr. Ennis was invited to participate as a guest speaker at the inaugural spring symposium of the University of Florida’s Edward A. Bouchet Graduate Honor Society on Monday, April 2, 2018. The theme of the symposium was A View from the Disciplines: Modeling C.L.A.S.S. (Character, Leadership, Advocacy, Scholarship, and Service) in Research.
Edward Alexander Bouchet was a physicist, educator, member of Phi Beta Kappa, and the first African-American to earn a PhD from an American university when he completed his dissertation in physics at Yale in 1876. The mission of the society, which is named in his honor, is to “recognize outstanding scholarly achievement and promote diversity and excellence in doctoral education and the professoriate.”
Dr. Ennis exemplifies both academic and personal excellence, and she was honored to speak at the society’s inaugural symposium.
