On January 16th, iRACE lab member Erin Ferguson organized and facilitated a conversation with Ron Stallworth, subject of the acclaimed book and film Blackkklansman at the University of Florida. Sponsored by the Black Graduate Student Organization and the Reitz Programming Board, this event was one of several taking place in January to honor the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Erin serves as the 2018-19 MLK Event Chair for the Black Graduate Student Organization. Mr. Stallworth was the first Black detective at the Colorado Spring Police Department in the 1970s, and he later led an undercover investigation where he infiltrated the Ku Klux Klan. The hour and a half long event consisted of a moderated conversation with Mr. Stallworth, as well as an audience Q&A.
