4th Annual Pink Pumpkin Pedal-Off
Several fundraisers are taking place in Gainesville during the month of October to raise money to support breast cancer research and survivorship programs. On October 10, the 4th Annual Pink Pumpkin Pedal-Off was held. This charity bike ride raised money to support the research of treatment-resistant breast cancers conducted at the University of Florida. On Saturday, October 24, a 5K walk will be held in downtown Gainesville to support Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. Hundreds of breast cancer survivors and supporters turn out each year to raise money for breast cancer research and prevention efforts. In addition to sponsoring these events, many Gainesville businesses and restaurants are donating a portion of their profits to breast cancer organizations during the month of October.
