The iRACE lab is excited to announce that Zach recently successfully defended his doctoral candidacy examination titled “Prevalence and Correlates of Psychological Dysfunction among Former High-Performance Athletes: A Scoping Review.” Moving forward, Zach’s research will assess the prevalence and determinants of mood and substance use disorders in former National Football League (NFL) players. He anticipates conducting a follow-up investigation to Dr. Linda Cottler’s 2011 study examining prescription opioid misuse within this population. Zach mentioned that he is “really excited about both the proposed project and the possibility of the findings informing future clinical interventions within retired NFL athletes.”
