Dr. Ennis presents at SEAETC Conference

Dr. Nicole Ennis attended the 2017 Southeast AIDS Education and Training Center (SE AETC) Conference held in Sandestin, Florida from May 10 to May 12, 2017. The conference featured the theme “Battling HIV Through the Care Continuum.” The Southeast AIDS Education and Training Center is a consortium that includes eight states: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. In this 3 day conference, healthcare professionals of various backgrounds came together to represent the eight-state region (Deep South). Dr. Ennis’ oral presentation “Substance Use Disorders in People Living with HIV” highlighted the prevalence of alcohol and drug use among persons with HIV in the U.S. and persons with HIV in Florida. She also discussed the relationship of alcohol and drug use with HIV treatment outcomes as well as intervention techniques for substance use disorder in people living with HIV.
