iRACE Lab Launches Partnership with CAN Community Health

The iRACE Lab is pleased to announce our academic-community partnership with CAN Community Health. iRACE and CAN are working together at the CAN location in Jacksonville, Florida, to bridge the substance use science-to-service gap for people living with HIV.

Who is iRACE?

The iRACE lab is a health psychology laboratory guided by a dissemination and implementation science framework. The goal of our research is to improve patient care among medically underserved populations through evidence-based behavioral interventions in the context of learning healthcare systems. We aim to understand and intervene on factors that influence health outcomes among patients coping with substance misuse, depression, HIV infection, and other chronic diseases.

How do we make a difference?

CAN Community Health and the iRACE Lab recognize that the substance use science-to-service gap needs to close for people living with HIV. Through this partnership, CAN and iRACE will explore best practices for bringing evidence-based behavioral interventions to people living with HIV using a co-located model. The implementation of evidence-based interventions within specialized HIV care settings is ideal given that integrated care has been shown to optimize health outcomes.

Research that examines best practices will provide data needed to implement evidence-based substance use interventions in public health settings while creating sustainable interventions that the community can maintain.
